Reduction of the piston of the first cylinder in the provision of the top dead point (VMT)

The highest point of a piston stroke in the cylinder is called as the top dead point (VMT). Strictly speaking, in 4-тактных engines in the course of rotation of a cranked shaft this situation is reached by each of pistons twice: once at the end of a step of compression and the second – at the end of a release step. At performance of procedures of control and engine adjustments in overwhelming majority of cases position of the piston of the first cylinder in VMT of the end of a step of compression is used.

Need for piston reduction in situation VMT arises at carrying out many procedures, in particular such, as service of the klapanny mechanism, removal and installation of a camshaft, components of a drive of GRM, etc.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Make sure that transmission is transferred to neutral situation, then cock the parking brake, or prop up back wheels of the car protivootkatny boots. Separate sockets of electroconducting of coils of ignition and turn out spark plugs (see. Section Check and replacement of spark plugs).
  2. Reduction of any of pistons in situation VMT is made by a provorachivaniye of a cranked shaft of the engine in the normal direction of rotation by means of a face natural by a ratchet drive (clockwise) for a bolt screwed in an end face of a forward pin of a cranked shaft. In the presence of the assistant, the preliminary provorachivaniye of the engine can be carried out by a starter (short breakthroughs) from a driver's place under the direction of the operator.
  3. If the cover of a head of cylinders is not removed, turn out spark plugs and establish компрессометр in a candle opening of the first cylinder (see. Door section).

Kompressometr should be completed with a carving nozzle with a connecting hose in length not less than 15 see.


  1. Turn a cranked shaft so that the notch on its pulleys coincided with a mark "0" in a cover of a belt of a drive of GRM. Thus the piston of the first cylinder will be given in VMT.
  1. To make sure of that VMT of the end of a step of compression is reached it is possible, watching indications компрессометра – at approach to VMT of the end of a step of compression pressure will begin considerably grow in the cylinder. If the cover of a head of cylinders is removed, to make sure of achievement of VMT of the end of a step of compression it is possible, watching pushers of all valves of the first cylinder – they should be free, i.e. working ledges of the corresponding cams of camshafts should be turned up.
  2. If VMT of the end of a step of release is reached, for piston reduction in VMT of the end of a step of compression turn a cranked shaft in the normal direction on a complete revolution.
