Management of automatic transmission (AT)

On considered cars 4-step AT supervised by the electronic control unit is established. The lever of the selector of AT modes is located in the lower part of the central console.

Lever of the selector of AT modes and description of modes

All transfers of advance it is switched automatically if the lever of the selector of AT modes is in situation "D".

For moving of the lever of the selector from the situation "P" ignition should be included, the brake pedal is squeezed out, and also the button of removal of fixing is pressed.

For smooth movement squeeze out a brake pedal when moving the lever of the selector of the situation "N" in provisions of advance or back.

The description of the switch of the AT modes (/»SNOW) is provided by "POWER" in the Section Governing bodies and the salon equipment.

It is not necessary to increase engine turns at the chosen mode of advance or back and the pressed pedal of a brake. At operation of the engine on single turns do not move the selector lever from the situation "N" or "P" to provisions "L", "2", "D" or "R".

AT operating modes

«P» (Parking) — In the AT this situation is blocked, and forward wheels cannot rotate. Before transferring the selector lever to this situation, completely stop the car.

Moving of the lever of the selector to the situation "P" at the moving car will cause blocking of forward wheels and loss of controllability of the car, and also will lead to transmission damage. Do not use the situation "P" instead of the parking brake – they should be shared.

«R» (Movement by a backing) — This position of the lever of the AT selector is used for movement back.

In order to avoid transmission damage before inclusion of transfer of a backing make sure that the car is completely stopped.

«N» (Neutral situation) — Wheels and transmission are not blocked, the car can be moved freely even if the transfer case is established on transfer.

«D» (Movement) — Normal position of the lever of the selector at car movement. AT is switched between all four transfers of advance, proceeding from an optimum ratio of capacity and economy of fuel.

For capacity increase (for example, when overtaking) completely squeeze out a gas pedal that AT was switched to lowering transfer. For improvement of technical parameters of the AT engine it is not switched to the 4th transfer at temperature of cooling liquid of the engine below the 70th hail.

«2» (The second transfer) — AT is switched only between the 1st and 2nd transfers of advance. It is used for receiving bigger capacity at movement on lifting, and also for braking by the engine at movement on descent. The choice of this situation also helps to reduce a proskalzyvaniye of wheels on the slippery road. The top limit of speed of movement at the chosen mode "2" makes 117 km/h.

Do not exceed the most admissible speed of movement since it leads to an overheat and AT breakage.

To "L" (Lowering transfer) — Establish the selector lever in this situation at big loading, and also at movement on a steep slope. The top limit of speed of movement at the chosen mode "L" makes 65 km/h.

Movement on a steep slope from a place

To start movement on a steep slope squeeze out a brake pedal, move the AT selector lever to situation "D", "2" or "L" (depending on loading of the car and a lifting steepness) and release the parking brake. Smoothly press a gas pedal, releasing a brake pedal.

O/D mode

Transmission will continue to work in the O/D mode until it will not switch off by means of the switch, or before engine switching off. When driving with use of the O/D mode do not exceed the most admissible value of turns of a cranked shaft since thus it is possible to damage the engine.


Inclusion To/l the O/D mode in a flashing mode indicates malfunction of transmission.

Use the O/D mode to start movement on slippery roads, at movement on lifting, and also for braking by the engine at movement on descent.

When using the O/D mode the algorithm of gear shifting changes at advance in the chosen mode "D". For inclusion of the O/D mode press the switch located on the handle of the lever of the AT selector, - should light up corresponding To/l in a combination of devices. For switching off of the O/D mode press the switch once again, - To/l should go out.

Inclusion and switching off of the HOLD mode does not influence in any way AT work at movement in a mode "2" or "L".

At the switched-off O/D mode in an AT mode "D" will hold the 3rd transfer and it will never be switched to the 1st and 4th transfers. When braking the 2nd transfer then AT comes back to the 3rd transfer for smooth acceleration joins. Respectively, at a start of motion (from a place) it is used the 2nd transfer, and then AT is switched to the 3rd transfer.

Blocking of switching and emergency moving of the lever of the selector from the situation "P"

For safety of the driver and passengers of AT it is equipped with system of the blocking preventing moving of the lever of the selector from the situation "P" if the brake pedal is not squeezed out.

For moving of the lever of the selector of the situation "P" squeeze out and hold a brake pedal. Then start the engine or turn the ignition key in the situation "ON", press a clamp of the lever of the selector, located on its handle, and move the lever to demanded situation. As well for key extraction from the ignition lock the lever of the selector should be in the situation "P".

If several times in a row to press and release a brake pedal, in the field of the lever of the selector noise can be heard, is a normal phenomenon which does not point to any malfunction.

If at performance described above actions to move the selector lever from the situation "P" it was not possible, without releasing a brake pedal, remove a cap from the button of emergency removal of blocking, press this button and move the lever from the situation "P".

Do not forget to press the button of removal of fixing of the lever thus.
